Who are BRAVE?
BRAVE is founded by husband and wife duo Amber & Seb, and we want to help everyone make more nutritious and sustainable food choices. We make an award-winningly delicious range of roasted pea and chickpea snacks that are nutritional powerhouses!
Taste, nutrition and sustainability
Our mission is centred around what we call the Super Snack Trifecta: taste, nutrition and sustainability.
Taste always comes first - our snacks cover all flavours and are all formulated with high-quality, all-natural ingredients. We’ve got smoky BBQ, tangy Salt & Vinegar and even just launched the World’s First Cookies & Cream Roasted Chickpea - delish!
Secondly, all our snacks pack a nutritional punch. With more protein than cashews and fewer calories than popcorn, they’re bursting with natural energy and make for the perfect on-the-go snack.
They’re also a fantastic source of fibre, which helps to build up the healthy microbes in your gut that have been linked to all aspects of your general wellbeing, helping fight off viruses, prevent diseases like diabetes and even contributing to your mental health!
As gut health is a super important topic to us, we’re thrilled to be partnering with LEON on the development of the Vegan Rainbow Salad using our Sweet Chilli Chickpeas.
Finally, pulses are one of the most sustainable sources of protein on the planet. Not only do pulses require very little water and fertilizer to grow, but they are actually magic.
Well, they aren’t actually magic… but pulses ‘fix’ nitrogen back into the soil. That nitrogen then works as a natural fertilizer, helping whatever is planted in that soil to flourish and grow, meaning you don't need additional fertilizers. They also help to rejuvenate the soil after mono-crops like corn or wheat destroy it.
And not just that, but all our snacks are made in the UK (our peas are even grown in the UK). The more pulses we sell, the more farmers will grow them, the more support this crop will get from the government. It’s hugely important for the future of humanity that we diversify our food sources, and pulses will play the largest role in this transition.
The reason behind the name BRAVE
It took us a long time to make the decision to start BRAVE. We thought we had a good product and a good idea, but somehow we just hesitated on making the plunge. What we realised was missing was a little courage, a small spark that helps you take the first step towards something better. Funnily enough, we realised this when we were looking for a name for our fledgling business and came across the word “brave.”
Suddenly it all clicked and BRAVE became not just our name but our motto too.
In the food industry, there are lots of ‘easier’ choices one can make: add more sugar, add more salt, use artificial ingredients, the list goes on. Seeing the word BRAVE every day in everything we do reminds us not to take the easy path, but the right one.
Positive change is only driven by the courage to take risks and try. That’s BRAVE to us.
