Have you re-watched Love Actually yet? Have you convinced yourself mulled wine is one of your ‘ten a day’? Have you eaten a mince pie BEFORE dinner? (‘Tis the season for sweet before savoury). If not, and we don’t normally judge, we’re sorry to say that you’re doing Winter all wrong. Yes, we may not have reached ‘peak Slade’ yet but Heart has unleashed Buble and the John Lewis Christmas ad is out, so we think it’s time.
Which is good, because we’ve got a lot to talk to you about. We wanted our Christmas specials to be extra special this year, and we think we’ve done it. We have a mix of LEON classics as well as some new Christmas crackers that you don’t know are your favourites (yet); two festive wraps, a showstopper of a curry, a family favourite soup and a sweet mini mince pie to finish. And we have a breakfast muffin that will banish even the harshest of Christmas party hangovers.
Each year someone writes to us to say, hey, did you know that LEON spelt backwards is NOEL? Well, we do know, but thank you for pointing it out. Each year since we started, we like to switch our logo backwards on our posters, make ourselves a Hot Toddy from the first LEON cookbook and pause to reflect on the year just passed. We invite you to do the same. Happy Holidays.
Oh, and Happy Christmas.
We are all set for hours of Christmas wrapping. We bring you the gift of British turkey, ham hock, and pork, sage & onion stuffing balls, all wrapped up with spinach, tarragon mayo and a cranberry & clementine sauce.
A Christmas miracle. Our new Christmas Veggie Wrap is a vegan lunch that tastes like you’ve topped Santa’s good list.
A nutty roast with sweet potato falafel topped with cranberry & clementine sauce and a you-won’t-believe-it’s vegan sage & onion mayo, with rocket, toasted pine nuts and crispy onions.
Our friend Gizzi Erskine is joining us again for Christmas dinner as we re-launch our LEON x Gizzi Christmas Turkey Curry.
A traditional Boxing Day recipe in the Gizzi Erskine household and one of the tastiest things you can enjoy this Christmas: British turkey, carrots and parsnips in a creamy curry sauce, spiced with garam masala, cumin and coriander. Topped with a sprinkling of crispy onions.
A mini mince pie with a big heart. We’re donating 20p from the sale of every mince pie to Save the Children’s Make the World Better with a Sweater campaign.
Brandy-spiked mincemeat studded with cranberries, currants and mixed peel in a crumbly, buttery pastry case.
A Christmas favourite in the Derham family household and a LEON cookbook classic. The festive Brussels sprout, sautéed with onions and fresh thyme.
This little piggie went for brunch. British Cumberland sausage nestled on a bacon blanket with cranberry & clementine sauce and fresh spinach.
